About the film

Eyes Full of Water (Voda v očeh) is a feature film by Jože Baša. Shot when Baša was a 20 year old student of physics, the film was made with no funding and with the entire cast and crew working for free. It is a result of pure passion and the need to tell a story.

In 2005 the film astonished the Slovenian film industry and won three awards at the Slovenian Film Festival: besides The Critics Award and The Audience Award for the Best Film, the film also received The Vesna Award for the Best Screenplay, a Slovenian equivalent of the Oscar Award.

Critics

Written, directed, edited, scored and co-produced by Baša - who also stars - Eyes Full of Water is perhaps best described as what Good Will Hunting might have been if it had been made by Robert Bresson. An extravagant comparison? Perhaps. Baša would be the first to admit that he isn't yet the “finished article” in every single area of filmmaking: but if there's a more versatile, promising and accomplished under-25-year-old European working within the medium at present, we'd love them to get in touch.
